Patrick Craig: Further talks
I hope you enjoyed last nights presentation from Patrick Craig – what a bonus to have him sing for us!
There was a fleeting mention of further Zoom presentations that he does under the auspices of Early Music Fora spread around the country. You do not have to be a member of any of them to sign-up.
The first one will be next week on 18th February on the topic of The Music of Ash Wednesday. As he said, he couldn’t schedule it for the day itself, as he expected to be singing in St Paul’s when the timetable went to print. Book now, as it’s number-limited and there were 150 at the last presentation. This will include Allegri’s Miserere, which you heard Patrick say he’d sung over 300 times, and on which some of us will be starting rehearsals with The Self Isolation Choir on 24th February.
March 29th’s presentation is being organised by Thames Valley Early Music Forum about the Stabat Mater.
Looking ahead to 18th May, another Thames Valley event will be Melodramatic Motets: a programme exploring the artistic inspirations behind the vivid music of Gaiches de Wert.
There is a £5 charge to attend these events and 50% of receipts above Patrick’s fee will go to help the charity Help Musicians’ Coronavirus Hardship Fund. He has been able to donate a considerable sum to date.
