Join Nailsea Choral Society for our Centenary concert performance of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius on Saturday 17 May.
This one-off anniversary performance brings together an outstanding cast of internationally acclaimed soloists: Mark Le Brocq as the impassioned Gerontius, Rebecca Afonwy Jones a luminous Angel, and Edmund Danon as both the commanding Priest and the solemn Angel of the Agony.
Radiant, dramatic, and profoundly tender, it traces the final moments of a dying man and his soul’s journey into the afterlife, set to some of Elgar’s most inspired and heartfelt music, moving from the hushed intensity of Gerontius’s prayers to the soaring grandeur of the Angel’s Farewell, with sweeping choral climaxes, glowing orchestral textures and searing drama.
A rare opportunity to hear Elgar’s choral masterpiece in all its power and beauty in the dramatic surroundings of Clifton Cathedral.
Doors open at 19:00 and the concert starts at 19:30.
Tickets are now available from Bristol Beacon.
Choir members (Nailsea and Chew Magna) will also be able to buy physical tickets in the usual way at choir practice evenings from early February.
Tickets cost £20 (£5 for U18). If buying from Bristol Beacon, there will be a small handling charge.
